Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, PITT OHIO began operations in 1979 by the Hammel family and is now owned by Charles L. Hammel, III. As of 2014, PITT OHIO has more than 2,300 employees ==History== PITT OHIO was founded in December 1978 by the Hammel brothers Robert, Kenneth, and Charles III and began operations in 1979. The company began with 3 trucks, three drivers, and one terminal in Pittsburgh. In 1982, PITT OHIO opened its second terminal in Cleveland, Ohio and have continued to open terminals in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. PITT OHIO Truckload, powered by ECM Transport, was formed in 2005 when PITT OHIO acquired a majority interest in ECM Transport, LLC, a truckload company also located in the Pittsburgh area.
